SUMMARY:Advancements in Eye-Tracking For Directional Control: Applications
 , Approaches, and Current Challenges

 rough eye-tracking technology offers a promising alternative to manual inp
 ut in human-computer interaction, with potential applications across healt
 hcare, agriculture, military operations, and transportation. However, seve
 ral challenges remain in the development and deployment of eye-controlled 
 systems, including tracking accuracy and stability, system response time a
 nd latency, as well as user fatigue and comfort.\n\nTo better understand t
 he current landscape, we conducted a literature review to: (1) examine app
 lications of eye-tracking technology in remote control and teleoperation; 
 (2) analyze the algorithms and approaches used in hands-free eye-tracking 
 systems; and (3) explore complementary devices and strategies that address
  real-world challenges in eye-controlled applications.\n\nOur review found
  that eye-tracking technology has shown significant potential for directio
 nal control in wheelchairs, UAVs, robotic cars, VR environments, and broad
 er human-computer interfaces. While algorithmic advances and system integr
 ation have driven progress, inconsistencies in evaluation methods and limi
 ted testing samples undermine the reliability of these systems for practic
 al deployment.\n\nFuture research should prioritize standardizing evaluati
 on protocols, expanding testing populations, and addressing issues related
  to usability, safety, and user comfort to support the broader adoption of
  eye-tracking-based control systems in real-world settings.\n\nTrack: Stud
