 ulation)\n\nThere has been renewed interest in nuclear power as an alterna
 tive to fossil fuels although concerns over nuclear safety continue to be 
 a concern.  The focus of this panel is to discuss brief summaries of techn
 ical content addressed in recent ANS, IEEE, ISO and NRC standards and regu
 lations and to show how they will be used to support the development of ne
 w advanced reactors and the modernization of the operating fleet.  This pa
 nel will bring representatives from human factors consensus standard organ
 izations including IEEE, ANS, and ISO together with staff members from the
  Nuclear Regulatory Commission to discuss how standards are being used to 
 help meet the energy needs of the future while continuing to ensure safety
