  Research, HKS)\n\nThe physical environment of healthcare facilities plays
  a pivotal role in shaping the experiences and outcomes of both patients/f
 amily caregivers and healthcare professionals. A growing body of research 
 shows that the physical environment of healthcare environments impacts saf
 ety, efficiency, and well-being. Human factors research focuses on underst
 anding how people interact with their environments, emphasizing design sol
 utions that account for human limitations, abilities, behaviors, and the n
 ature of tasks they perform. HF research and practice in healthcare emphas
 izes the importance of designing for ‘work as done’ versus ‘work as imagin
 ed’.  Evidence-based healthcare facility design (EBD) is the process of ma
 king decisions about facility design using credible research to improve ou
 tcomes. Researchers in this field study how the design of the physical env
 ironment of healthcare facilities impacts patient, staff, and organization
 al outcomes. Despite the promise of these two approaches and aligned goals
 , there remains a gap in effectively combining human factors and healthcar
 e facility design research and practice. This session seeks to create a di
 scussion forum for researchers and practitioners interested in integrating
  theories and methods from human factors and evidence-based healthcare fac
 ility design, providing a pathway for collaboration among researchers and 
 practitioners in human factors, healthcare architecture, and clinical fiel
