SUMMARY:Trust versus Distrust in Automation: Further Evidence of Distinct 
 Factors

 easingly integrated into work environments, yet operator reliance often de
 pends on trust in automated systems. The present study examined the dimens
 ionality of trust versus distrust in automation by comparing two different
  trust scales. The findings provide further evidence that trust and distru
 st are distinct constructs rather than opposite ends of a continuum. From 
 a practical perspective, researchers should avoid collapsing trust and dis
 trust items into a single score, as the distrust factor demonstrates discr
 iminant validity, while trust shows partial convergent validity.\n\n
