 rsity of New York (POLY))\n\nThe present invention provides an automated, 
 modular system configured for integration with existing wheelchairs, facil
 itating the wheelchair to autonomously track and follow a patient during g
 ait training sessions or other mobility-related activities. The invention 
 comprises a modular add-on that attaches to the wheelchair’s existing joys
 tick or control stick, equipped with a camera and software that autonomous
 ly tracks the patient’s movements. The wheelchair’s motion is controlled b
 y the module, based on real-time visual feedback from the camera targeting
  the patient.\nThe primary advantage of this invention is its ability to m
 inimize the risk of fall for patients via allowing the wheelchair to follo
 w the patient without additional staff involvement, to increase patient sa
 fety and reduce staff workload. Furthermore, the invention is designed to 
 be minimally invasive, enabling it to be retrofitted to virtually any exis
 ting automated and powered wheelchair with minimal modification.\n\n
