SUMMARY:Charting New Frontiers in Cognitive Security: A Human Factors Call
  to Action
DESCRIPTION:Chad Tossell and Cara Spencer (University of Colorado Boulder)
, Mica Endsley (SA Technologies), Mathew Canham (Cognitive Security Instit
ute), Laura Steckman (U. S. Air Force Office of Research), and Leanne Hirs
hfield and Allison Hayman (University of Colorado Boulder)\n\nFor the seco
nd year in a row, the World Economic Forum's Global Risks Report (2025) id
entifies propagandistic and deceptive content as the leading threat to glo
bal stability. The internet and social media have become primary sources o
f information but also bring increasing risks of increased proliferation o
f false content. Addressing these challenges requires an interdisciplinary
approach that integrates human factors, neuroscience, cybersecurity, and
emerging technologies. This panel convenes leading experts to examine cogn
itive security from multiple perspectives highlighting the mechanisms that
make individuals and institutions susceptible to information threats, nov
el interventions, and ways for the HF community to respond. As propaganda
tactics evolve, so too must our strategies for defending against them with
  an increased HF/E focus.\n\nTrack: Cybersecurity\n\nSession Chairs: Chad
Tossell (University of Colorado Boulder) and Cara Spencer (University of C
 olorado Boulder)\n\n
