Dave Mitropoulos-Rundus
Biography
Dave has made his career designing products to fit people. He applies a wide range of user research methods to define and optimize physical, visual, tactile, and auditory user interfaces for hand-helds, kiosks, web sites and apps, production machines, and automobiles. He designs and conducts research in the lab, on the web, in cars, and in the homes of consumers. Dave has worked for a broad range of companies which include Hyundai Motor Group, General Motors, Eastman Kodak, Compuware, ForeSee, and Quicken Loans (Rocket Mortgage). Dave is a frequent conference presenter, and has taught user research and design courses at conferences and colleges including University of Michigan, College for Creative Studies, Arizona State University, and Washtenaw Community College. He is a chapter author of, “Design by People for People: Essays in Usability” and co-author of, “Checklist for Expert Evaluation of HMIs of Automated Vehicles—Discussions on Its Value and Adaptions of the Method within an Expert Workshop”. Dave’s contributions to the profession have included the direction of the Internet User Experience conference for more than ten years, board membership with the International UxPA, co-founding Michigan chapters of ACM SIG-CHI and UxPA, and ongoing mentoring of students and professionals in the field.
