Jesus Horacio Carillo Leal
Biography
Jesus Horacio Carrillo Leal is a Ph.D. candidate in Industrial and Systems Engineering at Texas A&M University, specializing in Human Factors and Data Science. He is currently a student fellow with both the Precise Advanced Technologies and Health Systems for Underserved Populations Engineering Research Center and the Texas A&M Telehealth Institute. His research focuses on digital health coaching via mHealth systems for chronic disease management and the evaluation of personalized feedback through data modeling. He leads telehealth projects on hypertension and diabetes self-management aimed at underserved populations. His dissertation explores whether AI-powered coaching, informed by real-time user behavior and engagement, can improve self-care and clinical outcomes. Through transdisciplinary collaboration, his goal is to establish a foundation for AI-driven chronic condition management that integrates behavioral science and human-centered AI.
