Biography
Dr. JuHyeong Ryu is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Industrial and Management Systems Engineering at West Virginia University. He holds a BS in Architectural Engineering from Dankook University (Republic of Korea), an MS in Construction Engineering and Management from the University of Michigan, and a PhD in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of Waterloo (Canada). Dr. Ryu leads the Human-Centered Intelligent Systems (HCIS) lab which is dedicated to maximize real-life human performance by minimizing the level of human effort. His research leverages wearables, AI, mixed reality, IoT, and automation to address critical challenges in human-system interaction. He has received multiple recognitions for his contributions, including funding from the National Science Foundation (NSF), the KSCEA Young Faculty Award, a Mitacs Accelerate Fellowship, and Best Paper Awards from the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers (IISE) and the European Group for Intelligent Computing in Engineering (EG-ICE).
