Biography
P. V. Madhusudhan Rao is a professor at IIT Delhi, associated with both the Department of Design and the Department of Mechanical Engineering. He holds degrees in mechanical engineering from Osmania University, IIT BHU, and a Ph.D. from IIT Kanpur. He has been a visiting researcher at institutions like NIST USA, MIT, and Stanford University.
He leads the ICMR National Center for Assistive Health Technology and co-founded the Assistech Lab at IIT Delhi. His work focuses on product design and assistive medical technologies, with several innovations reaching national and global impact. He has more than twenty patents, many of which have been commercialised and displayed at museums like Cooper Hewitt and the Gates Discovery Center.
Prof. Rao has led over seventy sponsored projects and served on multiple national committees related to science, technology, and innovation. He is a Fellow of ASME and a recipient of awards including the Abdul Kalam Technology Innovation Fellowship and IIT Delhi’s K. L. Chopra Faculty Research Award.
