Biography
Dr. Werner is an Associate Professor of Anesthesiology and Biomedical Informatics in the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. She is also Director of the Center for Research and Innovation in Systems Safety at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Dr. Werner’s research engages patients and care partners in co-designing, implementing, and evaluating interventions that transform the patient journey to improve patient-centered outcomes. With over $30 million in funding from the NIH, NSF, PCORI, HRSA, and AHRQ, her research has co-produced health technology and care process interventions to improve the quality and safety of healthcare within and across healthcare settings and in the home. Among other positions, she currently serves on the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality Clinical Decision Support Innovation Collaborative (CDSiC) Trust and Patient-Centeredness Workgroup. Her research has spanned formal and informal settings of care with a particular focus on consumer health information technologies.
