Homa Pesarakli is a PhD Candidate in Architecture at Texas A&M University, specializing in healthcare design. She has conducted research with the Center for Health Systems & Design (CHSD), Page Southerland Page, Inc., and the Applied Cognitive Ergonomics Lab (ACE-lab). Her work explores the intersection of healthcare architecture, human-system interaction, and data science, with a particular focus on how spatial design in intensive care units (ICUs) affects human physiological and cognitive responses, as well as clinical workflows.
Homa’s academic journey bridges architecture and healthcare analytics, combining cognitive ergonomics and data-driven methodologies to inform evidence-based design strategies aimed at improving patient care environments. She is the recipient of the Joseph G. Sprague New Investigator Award from the Center for Health Design (2024–2025) and the Houston Methodist Fellowship (2023–2024). She collaborates with interdisciplinary teams across architecture, engineering, and healthcare and is committed to advancing research that supports safer, more effective, and human-centered healthcare environments. Her long-term goal is to contribute as a research scientist focused on improving healthcare quality and outcomes through thoughtful design.
