Dan Nathan-Roberts

Biography
Dan Nathan-Roberts, Ph.D., CHFP, CNZHFE is an Associate Professor at San José State University, where he is the program coordinator of the Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence certificate program, and has built a home healthcare simulation lab and usability testing space. Dr. Dan has worked in industry as an engineer domestically and abroad, worked at US and New Zealand government regulators, served as a consultant and innovation coach, and taught in several types of educational institutions. Recently, he returned from a sabbatical where he served as the Acting Manager for Health and Safety By Design, a sociotechnical systems-focused safety team at WorkSafe New Zealand. Currently, Dan is the coordinator of the new hybrid Bachelor of Science in Information Science and Data Analytics degree and oversees the User Systems Engineering Research lab (USERlab). Dan’s research interests center on systems thinking patient-centered healthcare, human-AI robot interaction, and Return On Investment methods.
