Avishek Choudhury

Biography
Dr. Avishek Choudhury is a tenure-track Assistant Professor in the Department of Industrial and Management Systems Engineering at West Virginia University. His interdisciplinary research spans human-AI interaction, health informatics, and the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) in clinical settings. Dr. Choudhury has authored over 50 peer-reviewed journal articles, and his work—frequently cited and internationally recognized—has been featured by Forbes, IEEE, and STAT News. A systems thinker by training, he earned his Ph.D. in Systems Engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology in 2022, where he received multiple university-wide honors, including the Outstanding Dissertation Award, the Fabrycky Blanchard Award, and the prestigious Paul Kaplan Award. Dr. Choudhury currently serves as an Associate Editor for JMIR Human Factors, Scientific Reports, Frontiers in Digital Health, and as a Section Editor for Health Systems. He has received federal and state-level grants, including funding from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and internal support for mobile health innovation. An invited speaker at institutions such as the National Academies and NYU Grossman School of Medicine, Dr. Choudhury is also deeply involved in mentoring and teaching the next generation of occupational safety professionals.
