Dr. Gary A. Mirka is a University Professor in the Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering at Iowa State University. Dr. Mirka received his Ph.D. in industrial and systems engineering 1992 from The Ohio State University. He is a fellow of The Ergonomics Society and recipient of 1993 Volvo Award in Low Back Pain Research. Dr. Mirka's research interests are in the area of occupational safety and ergonomics with particular emphasis on spine biomechanics, low back injury prevention, and ergonomic intervention effectiveness research.
