Biography
Lori J. Brown received the M.S.-AVHF degree in aviation human factors from the College of Engineering and Technology at Hawthorn, Swinburne University, Melbourne, VIC, Australia, in 2009. From 1989 to 2001, she was an Airline Transport Pilot with over 6000 flight hours and has trained pilots ab-initio cadets for British Airways, KLM, and UAE, as well as pilots for national and international govern- ment agencies. She is a Professor with the College of Aviation, Western Michigan University, Kalamazoo, MI, USA, and an Evaluator for the American Council on Education for the Navy, Airforce, Marines, Army, and Coastguard. She is an Airline Transport Pilot. She is the author of several books, chapters, and more than 40 articles, with 1 patent. Her research interests focus on creating augmented and virtual reality educational experiences to improve aviation safety. Prof. Brown is a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society and has been recognized worldwide for her work as the previous chair for the ICAO Next Generation of Aviation Professionals Outreach program and the International Pilot Training Consortium work-stream with the Royal Aeronautical Society Outreach Program. She has been awarded the WMU Michigan Distinguished Professor of the Year award, the WMU Innovative Teaching Award, and the WMU Research Excellence Award.
