Biography
Ayse Gurses, PhD, MS, MPH, Professor at Johns Hopkins University and Director of the Armstrong Institute Center for Health Care Human Factors. Gurses is a human factors and systems engineer and a codeveloper of the SEIPS model. Gurses uses a variety of theoretical approaches and human factors methodologies to investigate problems and co-develop and test innovative, human-centered, and practical solutions to improve safety and quality of health care work systems. She will provide an overview of some key HF-based theoretical approaches guiding her work and share examples of her work with respect to physical ergonomics and built environment design as applied to infection prevention and control and team coordination in health care.
