Andrew Thatcher

Biography
Andrew Thatcher is a full Professor and Chair of Industrial/Organisational Psychology in the Department of Psychology at the University of the Witwatersrand. His research over the past 20 years has been focused on ergonomics/human factors and sustainability including developing theoretical approaches and award-winning empirical research using ergonomics/human factors to facilitate environmental sustainability. He is currently the President of the International Ergonomics Association and Editor-in-Chief of Ergonomics. Previously he was Chair of the International Ergonomics Association’s Future of Work Committee and President of the Ergonomics Society of South Africa. He publishes regularly in the top journals in the field. He was the recipient of the 2022/2023 NSTF-South32 Green Economy Award as well as various other research awards.
