Junho Park
Biography
Dr. Junho Park is a tenure-track Assistant Professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Calgary’s Schulich School of Engineering, with joint appointments in the Department of Community Health Sciences at the Cumming School of Medicine and an adjunct role in the Department of Psychology. He also leads the HERO (Human factors, Ergonomics, Realtime-AI, Optimization) Lab, focusing on enhancing human-AI interactions in healthcare and rehabilitation settings.
Dr. Park earned his Ph.D. in Industrial and Systems Engineering from Texas A&M University in 2023, following an M.Sc. in Industrial Engineering from Seoul National University and a B.Sc. in Computer and Industrial Engineering with a minor in Psychology from Yonsei University. His research integrates human factors engineering, cognitive science, and machine learning to improve the usability and performance of assistive technologies, such as upper-limb prosthetics and augmented reality systems.
Prior to joining the University of Calgary, Dr. Park served as an Assistant Professor at Santa Clara University, where he directed the Human-AI System Optimization Lab. His work has been recognized with several awards, including the 2023 Student Member with Honors from the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society.
Through his interdisciplinary approach, Dr. Park aims to develop practical solutions that enhance human-system interactions, particularly in health and safety-critical domains.
