Dr. Rafael N.C. Patrick is a Human Factors Psychology and Engineering Assistant Professor within the Grado Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering at Virginia Tech. He is the director of the Human IMPaC-T Lab, which aims to understand how humans affect technology and technology’s effect on humans by utilizing the immersive multimodal perception and cognition facilities in Blacksburg, VA. He received his doctoral degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering with a concentration in human-machine systems from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University (’18), M.S. in Human Factors Systems (’12), and B.S. in Human Factors Psychology (’08) from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. His research falls within the midpoint of cognitive psychology and systems engineering to advance product development for immersive multimodal interfaces. Dr. RNCP is a published researcher and lecturer in Applied Ergonomics, Human Factors Psychology and Engineering, Interface Usability, and Psychoacoustics.
