Biography
Dr. Erkin Ötleş is a physician-engineer and emergency medicine resident physician at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. With a background in machine learning, operations research, and clinical informatics, his work focuses on the full lifecycle of AI in healthcare—ranging from model development, evaluation, and real-world implementation. His research has examined the performance and limitations of AI-driven decision support tools in clinical practice, including high-profile evaluations of widely deployed proprietary prediction models. He has also been actively involved in developing and integrating machine learning models to enhance clinical workflows, with applications including in-hospital deterioration detection, infection prevention, and cancer prognostication.
