Biography
Leah Newman, Ph.D., is an associate professor and the program director for the Industrial Engineering (IE) program at MSOE, where she has been a faculty member since the fall of 2007. Before joining MSOE, Dr. Newman taught at The Pennsylvania State University (Penn State) for four years. Her research focuses on the study and design of medium- to large-scale systems, with a particular emphasis on the "human factors" aspect of these systems. She is especially interested in exploring social innovation, culture and organization, and job design. Over the years, Dr. Newman has taught courses in Human Factors/Ergonomics, Applied Statistics, Financial Engineering, Team Facilitation and Leadership, Project Management, Safety, and Engineering Socio-technical Systems. She earned her B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in Industrial Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
