Kianna M. Arthur
Biography
Kianna Arthur is currently a PhD candidate in the Social and Personality Psychology PhD
program at Texas A&M University. Her research interests are focused on the functionality of
counterfactual thoughts (i.e., “If only…”) in addiction and health-promotion contexts (e.g.,
tobacco and nicotine cessation, alcohol use, etc.); this includes both the generation and goal-
pursuit consequences of counterfactual thinking. Broadly, she is interested in using self-
regulatory and goal-pursuit processes for intervention development at the individual-,
interpersonal- and community-level to foster positive health outcomes. She will join the NIDA-
funded T32 postdoctoral fellowship program at the Brown University Center for Alcohol and
Addiction Studies in Fall 2025.
