Enhancing Greenhouse Environment Management Training: A Usability Study
DescriptionGreenhouse management requires precise control over environmental factors such as temperature and pesticide application to optimize crop growth and yield. Traditional training methods often lack interactivity, leading to gaps in knowledge retention and decision-making efficiency. This study uses a 2D simulation-based training tool to enhance cognitive processing and decision-making in greenhouse management. The training tool is designed to support learners in managing an Environmental Controller Unit (ECU) for greenhouse operations, with a specific focus on crop type, temperature regulation, and pesticide application. Twenty-four participants experienced the training tool, with an average non-value-added time of only 1.125 seconds, indicating efficient task execution. Usability assessments revealed moderate to high user satisfaction, with participants reporting high engagement and motivation throughout the training experience.
