Satisfaction of Automated Video Interviews Compared to Other Questionnaires for Depression Assessment
DescriptionThis study aims to evaluate the impact of video synchronizing interviews on patients’ satisfaction using automated systems compared to clinical questionnaires and a Storyline questionnaire provided by Storyline Health, a digital platform that allows patients to track symptoms, manage health data, and participate in research studies. Since depression is one of the most common and misdiagnosed mental disorders, there is a clinical need for the diagnosis to be accurate to provide appropriate treatment for patients. Data were collected from 322 participants with depression through the Storyline AI platform and Prolific. The findings indicated significant differences between the Storyline questionnaire, the Storyline video interview questionnaire, and the clinical questionnaire. The Storyline questionnaire had greater satisfaction ratings than the Storyline video-based interview or the clinical questionnaire. These findings indicate that the data collection method has a significant effect on the satisfaction of depressed patients. While our findings indicate that higher levels of satisfaction may improve trust in automated systems, direct measurement of trust was beyond the scope of this study. Future studies should clearly assess trust to enhance these findings. Additionally, future research should compare trust levels across different questionnaire formats and investigate whether trust influences adherence to automated mental health evaluations.
