Involvement of Teachers in the Design of a Serious Game Integrated Into Musculoskeletal Disorder Prevention Courses in Vocational High Schools

DescriptionMusculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) remain a major occupational health issue in Europe, highlighting the need for early prevention strategies. This study involved five experienced teachers in the design of a serious game aimed at raising MSD awareness among vocational high school students. Through semi-structured interviews, teachers shared their pedagogical practices, challenges in engaging students, and expectations for the game's integration. Findings showed that MSD topics are often perceived as abstract by students, making engagement difficult. Teachers emphasized the need for interactive, realistic, and easily integrable tools. Based on these insights, the serious game was designed to feature dynamic, profession-specific scenarios, flexible modular progression to fit limited class time, and compatibility with standard school equipment. The game aims to enhance student engagement by offering immersive, choice-driven experiences that connect learning with real-world professional risks.
