Human Factors in AI Perception: Exploring Attitudes Through Experience and Personality
DescriptionAs Artificial Intelligence (AI) becomes a regular part of everyday life, understanding what shapes people’s attitudes toward it has important implications for future use. This study explores how personality traits, gender, and personal experience with AI impact both excitement about its potential and concern about its risks. Using validated surveys and a diverse sample of college students, we examined what predicts positive or negative views of AI. Key findings reveal that the more experience people have with AI, the more positively they tend to view it, suggesting that familiarity may ease fear and boost acceptance. Meanwhile, women and individuals with higher agreeableness expressed more concern about AI's risks. These results highlight the need to consider not only what people know about AI, but also their individual factors when designing and implementing AI technologies.
