Hospice care provides comfort and dignity to individuals at the end of life while supporting their families through emotional and spiritual challenges. Yet, many hospice units remain outdated, often modeled after nursing homes, and fall short of meeting the specific needs of patients and caregivers—especially in a post-pandemic healthcare environment. This presentation introduces a comprehensive set of design guidelines for hospice units within hospital settings, aimed at both new construction and renovation projects. Using a qualitative research approach—including literature review, case study surveys, and space syntax analysis—this study identifies critical design considerations such as patient and nurse flow, family accommodations, safety, and infection control. The resulting guidelines emphasize private rooms, calming environments, access to outdoor spaces, family-friendly lounges, and spiritual reflection areas. Attention is also given to layout efficiency, noise reduction, personalization, and supportive technology integration. These recommendations are grounded in real-world case studies and developed to promote comfort, emotional well-being, and operational efficiency. Attendees will leave with practical, evidence-based insights for designing hospice spaces that enhance quality of life, reduce stress, and support the needs of patients, families, and healthcare providers during life’s most vulnerable moments
