Presentation
The Promise of Sustainable Aviation
DescriptionHuman factor and ergonomics (HFE) specialists play a large role in the emerging path to sustainable aviation. Since aviation is a leading producer of greenhouse gas (GG) the methods and practice of sustainable aviation can reduce these environmental costs. Drones and urban air mobility (UAM) focus on clean energy, reduced emissions and efficient infrastructure, making these technologies more environmentally friendly. The audience is invited to be part of a discussion featuring a panel of leaders from academia and industry sharing lessons learned, latest work, and recommendations from a HFE perspective on electric vehicles, human-automation teaming, and an end-to-end UAM process using uncrewed aerial systems (UAS) for passenger travel, drones for cargo delivery and defense applications utilizing a self-contained landing infrastructure, which results in an environmentally friendly, quiet, and cost-efficient solution to the problem green aviation seeks to solve.
