CANCELED - Development of Human Factors Standards and Regulatory Guidance to Ensure Safe Operation of Nuclear Reactors
DescriptionThere has been renewed interest in nuclear power as an alternative to fossil fuels although concerns over nuclear safety continue to be a concern. The focus of this panel is to discuss brief summaries of technical content addressed in recent ANS, IEEE, ISO and NRC standards and regulations and to show how they will be used to support the development of new advanced reactors and the modernization of the operating fleet. This panel will bring representatives from human factors consensus standard organizations including IEEE, ANS, and ISO together with staff members from the Nuclear Regulatory Commission to discuss how standards are being used to help meet the energy needs of the future while continuing to ensure safety.
