Presentation
Building Operational Human-AI Teams with Digital Twins and AI Agents
DescriptionThis paper presents an integrated approach to advancing human-AI teaming by combining cognitively informed digital twins and agent-based simulation. We explore two complementary systems that together enable both tactical optimization and strategic planning in operational environments. At the tactical level, AI-enabled simulations of team dynamics reveal how individual traits—such as trust propensity, team orientation, and AI reliability—affect team performance and coordination in mission-critical settings. At the strategic level, population-scale simulations model how cognitive biases and personality profiles shape engagement with manipulated or adversarial information. Together, these efforts offer military planners’ powerful tools to assess team readiness, optimize human-AI configurations, and evaluate influence strategies in realistic, consequence-free environments—laying the groundwork for a new paradigm in human-machine integration.
